Hi. I have an external DoubleTalk synthesizer, and use JAWS 7.0 on a computer running Windows XP. I'm wondering if any of y'all might know how to install the DoubleTalk synthesizer? I have no idea how to do this to be honest, as plugging in the synthesizer, turning it on, and restarting the computer obviously doesn't work. (I tried it.) I also tried setting JAWS's "change synthesizer" think to "remote access speech", which it doesn't stay at so doesn't work either. I've also been trying to look up information on this on Google but haven't found much of anything. So I know that this sounds like a silly question, but how would you install this external synthesizer? Would I need some discs for it, or could I do it from JAWS or online? I had had it installed before, but that was like over 5 years ago, and it had been installed for me, and when I had an older version of JAWS. Then I had been given a whole other computer, and it wasn't installed back on this one. If y'all can help with this question, thanks in advance.

What you would do would be to select it in the synthesizer list when you install Jaws using an advanced install. Alternatively, you can go into maintenance, and do it from there. If it's a serial synth, you shouldn't have a problem, and it should work.

Also be sure that if you're going to have your external synth as your primary speach, be sure to have it turned on before starting your system, otherwise jfw won't load for ya.

Cool! Thanks you two.! I got it.! It is so cool to be able to use this thing again. I was missing this DoubleTalk voice when I had used to use my older computer. So thanks again. *smile*
